Communities participating in Ukraine`s Renovation League ONOVA League actively use the ONOVA GIS HUB geographic information portal not only to record destruction but also to present their recovery projects in a transparent manner.

For example, during the REBUILD UKRAINE international conference on February 15-16 in Warsaw, the Makariv territorial community demonstrated a map of destruction made with the help of ONOVA GIS GIS GIS HUB and one of the joint projects with the League.

"Makariv community is one of the most affected in Kyiv region. The community team presented several projects to potential international investors at the forum, and told them about more than five hundred destroyed residential buildings that need to be rebuilt," said Anatoliy Karbovsky, deputy head of Makariv village council. 

According to him, it was thanks to the work with the geographic information portal that the destruction was mapped quickly and accurately,  and a preliminary assessment of the degree of destruction of buildings was made. 

"First of all, it is convenient to communicate data on the scale of destruction to potential donors, investors, and partners using ONOVA GIS HUB. The information on the map turns into a visually clear picture that is easy to imagine, understand, and analyze, as we have seen once again during this forum," Anatoliy Karbovsky emphasized.

"Each of the ONOVA League members understands how important it is to collect and store geodata on destroyed buildings and reconstruction projects in a convenient format. Makariv community was one of the first to join the League in June 2022. During these months, we have done a lot of work to document the damage and launched several joint projects, including the reconstruction of the Barvinok kindergarten in Makariv. We have already found a donor for this project - the International Financial Institution Nefco, we will plan to work together for other cases. I would like to note that the reconstruction process will also be transparently displayed on the GIS HUB portal. I am confident that such joint work will give the result we all need - the rebuilding of Ukraine," said Yehor Stefanovych, Chief Coordinator of Ukraine`s Renovation League ONOVA, Chairman of the Board of the Public Unity “Ukrainian Fund of Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving”.
