Chernihiv regional youth center
Location
Chernihiv regional youth center
The Chernihiv Regional Youth Center is located in the very center of Chernihiv in a building that is an architectural landmark of the city.
Before the beginning of the Russian invasion, the territory of the youth center occupied about 2,500 square meters of space.
There were 3 equipped cinema halls, exhibition, and museum space; a large courtyard, equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable pastime.
On February 27, 2022, as a result of an airstrike on the building of the Chernihiv City Council a Russian missile hit the building, causing significant damage.
Currently, the building is in a state of disrepair and needs reconstruction.
The ONOVA Renewal League of Ukraine, within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation with the Chernihiv City Council, has started a project to renew the historic building.
The destruction has already been plotted on the damage map of the ONOVA GIS HUB portal.
Active work continues on technical reports and a concept project.

The city youth center needs not only the attraction of investments and reconstruction. We aim to make an updated version of this space, taking into account the best examples of world practice in the formation of such youth public spaces, all safety standards, inclusiveness, and energy efficiency of the building.
The goal of the project is to restore the Chernihiv Regional Youth Center — a free and safe space that unites the youth community, and will also make the center as organic a part of the city plan as possible.
