Project of the Charity Foundation “Blagomay” - “Shelter”
About the Fund
For over 12 years, the charity fund Blagomay has been ensuring a dignified childhood for children from vulnerable categories: children from orphanages, family-type orphanages (DBST), internally displaced children, and those affected by the war in Ukraine.
In this time, Blagomay has allocated over 295 million UAH to implement charitable projects. Most of the funds have been raised with the support of Ukrainian offices of major international corporations such as PepsiCo Ukraine, Mondelēz Ukraine, Cargill, KWS, Syngenta, SC Johnson, Integrites, and others.
The Fund provides ongoing care for over 5,000 children across the country and supports more than 110 institutions, including boarding schools, orphanages, IDP centers, and social and psychological rehabilitation centers. These institutions regularly receive humanitarian and psychological aid, as well as unique opportunities to participate in the Fund’s educational projects, which are unparalleled in Ukraine.
The mission of the Fund is to ensure a dignified childhood and equal opportunities for Ukrainian children during the war.
Amid the war in Ukraine and in the aftermath of our victory, the Fund focuses on projects for the reconstruction and restoration of damaged and destroyed kindergartens, schools, orphanages, and hospitals; improving medical equipment in healthcare facilities; providing psychological support, education, and enhancing the childhood experience for children in challenging life circumstances.
Shelters
Project Description
The charity fund Blagomay launched the "Shelters" project to ensure the safety of students and teachers in Ukrainian schools by equipping and modernizing shelters. This initiative allows educational institutions to continue the learning process even during air raids and other dangers.
Project Goals
-
Equip new shelters in schools that currently lack them.
-
Repair and modernize existing shelters to improve their effectiveness.
-
Ensure uninterrupted education during martial law.
Project Background
As of 2024, only 70% of Ukrainian schools are equipped with shelters, a critical necessity during wartime to guarantee the safety of students and teachers. This issue is particularly acute in frontline regions where frequent air raids disrupt the educational process.
Implementation Stages
-
Needs Assessment: Collecting and analyzing requests from schools for shelter installation or modernization.
-
Planning: Developing customized plans for each institution based on specific needs.
-
Implementation: Constructing new shelters and repairing existing ones.
-
Quality Control: Ensuring shelters meet established safety standards.
Timeline
The project is planned for 2024–2025, with the possibility of extension based on needs and available funding.
Funding Requirements
The total project budget is 75,000,000 UAH. As of today, 12,428,959 UAH (16% of the required amount) has been raised. An additional 62,571,041 UAH is needed for full implementation.
