On June 4, 2022, the Decree of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi established the Lyman city military administration of the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region, and Oleksandr Zhuravlov was appointed the head of the Lyman city military administration of the Kramatorsk district of the Donetsk region by the order of the President of Ukraine.

Lyman’s urban territorial community is located in the north of Donetsk region, bordering Kharkiv and Luhansk regions. The area of the community is 1209.75 km². The number of settlements: the city of Lyman and 39 villages and settlements (12 Starostyn districts).
7 industrial enterprises, 2 enterprises for the production and distribution of heat and water, 12 budget-forming enterprises of railway transport, 94 agricultural enterprises, and 127 enterprises providing household services to the population functioned on the territory of the community. 22 schools, 23 pre-school educational institutions, an after-school work center, a vocational school, a medical college, a branch of the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport, 3 hospitals, 19 paramedics and midwives stations, 11 dispensaries, an ambulance station, and the Donetsk Research Institute of Traumatology worked. and orthopedics and the regional trauma hospital, FSK "Lokomotiv", 25-meter swimming pool, children and youth sport school, 27 sports halls, 32 sports fields, 24 club facilities, 23 libraries, art school, city folk local history museum.
In 2021, the construction of a unique and one-of-a-kind bicycle track for training in the Olympic BMX discipline in Ukraine was completed. And already in 2022, it was planned to hold at least two all-Ukrainian tournaments and one international one.
Lyman was called the lungs of the industrial region, because on its territory there were 40,000 hectares of forests, part of the National Nature Park "Holy Mountains", the reserve "Chalk flora", many nature reserves, hundreds of lakes and ponds, the Siverskyi Donets River, about 200 recreation and health centers camps, sanatorium-prophylactic "Shczurovskyi", nature reserve "Cretaceous flora".
